B dot Medical Inc. commenced a joint research project with Yamagata University, a national university corporation, on July 1, 2023, to elucidate the optimal treatment planning methods in radiotherapy using X-rays, proton beams, and heavy ion beams.

B dot Medical is a medical device startup dedicated to promoting proton therapy, which provides high quality of life for patients. The company is currently developing an ultra-compact proton therapy system. Yamagata University has been offering heavy ion therapy at the East Japan Heavy Ion Center, within the Faculty of Medicine, Yamagata University, since 2022. B dot Medical has provided technical consulting services related to the design and manufacturing of the system during the facility’s installation.

The newly established joint research agreement aims to elucidate the optimal treatment planning methods in radiotherapy using X-rays, proton beams, and heavy ion beams, in collaboration between B dot Medical and Yamagata University. This joint research will enable the selection of effective and efficient treatment approaches in radiotherapy, including the implementation of heavy ion therapy conducted at Yamagata University. And this partnership will lead to the provision of scientifically supported treatment options with superior therapeutic outcomes for patients.
